What is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior. ABA refers to a set of principles that focus on how behaviors change, or are affected by the environment, as well as how learning takes place. The term behavior refers to skills and actions needed to talk, play, and live. ABA Therapy takes an intensive and comprehensive approach by providing a one-on-one teaching program for its clients. ABA therapists use a systematic approach to teaching their children through reinforcement. ABA Therapy has extensive techniques and philosophies that requires specific training and certification to implement.

A number of completed studies have shown that ABA techniques can produce improvements in communication, social relationships, play, self-care, school, and employment. Today, ABA is widely recognized as a safe and effective treatment for autism. In recent years there has been a dramatic increase in the use of ABA to help people with autism live happy and productive lives. In particular, ABA principles and techniques can foster basic skills such as looking, listening and imitating, as well as complex skills such as reading, conversing and understanding another person’s perspective.

All of our sessions are designed to help children thrive and engage in the place they know best and feel most comfortable in. We offer children the opportunity to engage in activities to meet their developmental needs and that allow for growth and development. At Mountain View ABA we treat each program for each child differently. We modify and customize as needed for each child.

We believe that family comes first. We will work with the child’s family and take their input into the development of our therapy plans as well as our own professional opinions.
